Trump orders release of JFK, RFK, MLK assassination records
President Donald Trump issued an executive order on Thursday to release all government records concerning the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Trump’s long-promised declassification order also called for the public release of government records about the assassinations of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The government has secreted these records for decades, but the American people deserve transparency and truth, the order stated.
So are the classified files available now? Trump’s order only initiated the process to release the records and it may still be some time before the documents are completely released. The director of national intelligence and the attorney general have about two weeks to draft a plan to release the JFK files, according to the order. The intelligence director and attorney general also have about 6 weeks to present a plan for the complete release of RFK and MLK documents.
