Trump names John Kelly new chief of staff
President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Friday to announce a much-anticipated White House staff shake-up: Reince Priebus is out as chief of staff and Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly will replace him. The move came days after Trump’s newly appointed communications director, Anthony Scaramucci, accused the former Republican National Committee chairman of being a “leaker.” “The fish stinks from the head down,” he said during an impromptu CNN interview. That invective gave way to even more, published late Thursday by The New Yorker. In an expletive-laden and vulgar tirade, Scaramucci called Priebus a “paranoid schizophrenic” and said he’d soon be asked to resign. It’s not clear whether Priebus resigned or was fired. Trump reportedly floated possible replacements for Priebus earlier this week, with Kelly at the top of the list. Kelly is a retired Marine Corps general and the former commander of the U.S. Southern Command.
