Trump cuts off Brennan’s security clearance
President Donald Trump is revoking the security clearance of former CIA Director John Brennan, the White House said Wednesday. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders added that the president is also reviewing the security clearances of other Obama administration intelligence officials such as former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former national security adviser Susan Rice. Some Democrats criticized Trump, saying he was targeting his political enemies, but Sanders said the president was fulfilling his responsibility to protect classified information. The White House began reviewing Brennan’s security clearance last month after Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., questioned whether Brennan was inappropriately profiting from his clearance by “divulging secrets to the mainstream media with his attacks on [President Trump].”
