Trump condemns Russia, North Korea
President Donald Trump condemned what he called “destabilizing activities” by Russia and promised a severe response to North Korea’s continued missile tests in a speech Thursday in Poland. Speaking to a crowd in Warsaw’s Krasinski Square, Trump urged Russia to cease “destabilizing activities in Ukraine and elsewhere and its support for hostile regimes including Syria and Iran.” He urged the country instead to “join the community of responsible nations in our fight against common enemies and in defense of civilization itself.” The comments came one day before a scheduled meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Hamburg, Germany, while both presidents attend the G20 Summit. Trump also warned North Korea he is considering “some pretty severe things” in response to this week’s firing of an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the United States. He declined to give specifics about the U.S. response.
