Trump names billionaire banker as U.S. ambassador to Britain

President-elect Donald Trump on Monday nominated Warren Stephens for the office of U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James’s. The court receives all foreign ambassadors to the United Kingdom. The ambassador to the Court of St. James's is also the ambassador to Bermuda and responsible for the Consulate General in Hamilton, Bermuda.

Trump described Stephens as one of the most successful businessmen in the United States. He led his financial services firm, Stephens Inc., for almost four decades, serving as its president, chairman, and CEO, Trump said.

Why is he taking this post? Stephens has always dreamed of serving the United States full-time, Trump said. The president-elect said he was happy to make that dream a reality. Stephens and his wife Harriet have three adult children, according to his website. They also have six grandchildren, Trump said.
