Trump appoints new presidential lawyer
President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday named Alina Habba, a prominent and long-standing member of his legal team, as counselor to the president. Habba previously fought for Trump during various court trials he faced, while also advising his campaign and transition team, the president-elect said. She has been unwavering in her loyalty, Trump added.
Did Trump name any other picks for different offices? The president-elect said on Sunday he was nominating Christopher Landau to be the deputy secretary of state under Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. Last month, Trump nominated Rubio for the position of secretary of state. The president-elect on Sunday named Michael Anton as his pick to be the next director of policy planning at the U.S. State Department. Michael Needham would serve as the next counselor for the State Department, Trump said. Many of the nominations in the Trump administration remain subject to the approval of the U.S. Senate.
