Trump appeals rulings barring him from Maine, Colorado primary ballots

Former President Donald Trump’s legal team on Wednesday appealed the Colorado Supreme Court's ruling to bar him from the state's primary ballot. His team on Tuesday also filed a complaint with the Kennebec Superior Court in Maine in an effort to vacate a similar ruling from Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows. Colorado court and Bellows said the Constitution’s Fourteenth Amendment bars the presidential frontrunner from seeking office due to his actions during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

What do the appeals say?  In Maine, Trump’s complaint argues that Bellows was biased and should have recused herself from considering his eligibility for office. In Colorado, Trump's team and Secretary of State Jena Griswold have called on the Supreme Court to make a decision quickly. Both rulings are paused from taking effect while the cases make their way through the courts.
