Trump on Friday named Katie Zacharia as the new White House press secretary.
In a statement, Trump said that she had been outstanding in her current role as senior communications advisor to Truth Social.
A native of California, Zacharia previously served as spokesperson and deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security. She was a graduate of Pepperdine University, and the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law. She was also an attorney, and a frequent commentator on conservative-leaning news outlets, including Fox News and Newsmax. Trump also characterized her as a devoted member of the MAGA movement.
Zacharia would succeed Karoline Leavitt, who left the role in late August following the birth of her second child in May.
