Trump ally pleads guilty to Georgia election subversion charges

On Thursday, former Trump lawyer Sidney Powell pleaded guilty to six misdemeanor charges that she tried to help overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis included her in an indictment against former President Donald Trump and 18 of his associates back in August.

What does this mean for Powell and Trump? Powell will serve six years of probation, write an apology letter to Georgia and its residents, pay $6,000 in fines, and has agreed to testify against the former president if required by prosecutors. The plea agreement drops her more serious racketeering charge. Trump co-defendant and bail bondsman Scott Graham Hall also pleaded guilty to five misdemeanor charges. Trump has maintained he did nothing wrong and only challenged election results. Trump and his other co-defendants have pleaded not guilty to their charges in Fulton County.
