The Trump administration rolled out a new federal website on Tuesday aimed at streamlining public access to federal resources using artificial intelligence. America.gov used AI to make federal programs more accessible and transparent to the taxpayers who fund them, according to a Tuesday release from the White House. The secure website allowed citizens to answer questions and access government resources through one point of entry rather than navigating various federal agency websites.

U.S. Chief Design Officer Joe Gebbia described the new webpage as the American government’s new online home, compiling 29,000 federal websites into one. Enrollments, benefits, or renewals can now be done all in one place, he said at the Tuesday morning launch. People can compare Medicare plans, check in on student loans, or even change their mailing address with the user-friendly website, Gebbia said.

Americans spend 10 billion hours annually dealing with government paperwork, and they deserve better, President Donald Trump said at the Tuesday launch event. America.gov is a message to the world that every American citizen will be treated with respect and dignity, he added.

How does it work? Gebbia gave a website demonstration on Tuesday by using the webpage to search for instructions on changing one’s name after marriage. The search scanned across multiple agencies and guided users through steps on how to move forward, Gebbia said. Americans can ask any question in the live America.gov website search bar and receive an up-to-date answer, according to the White House.

The website runs on Super Intelligence, or SI, to improve site performance while still preserving personal privacy, according to the fact sheet. More services will be integrated on the newly published website in the coming months. Americans will be able to complete passport renewals or enroll in Medicare on the webpage, according to the Trump administration.

The website would host information and resources on any public-facing federal services used by over 100,000 individuals over a 12-month period and that can be accessed online, according to the White House. The administration noted that the website would not include services under the Internal Revenue Service and Defense Department due to security concerns.
