Tornado strikes Chicago suburb

WHEATON, Ill.—A nighttime twister damaged more than 100 homes in Naperville, Ill., on Sunday. At least eight people were hospitalized in the heavily populated suburb west of Chicago, but no deaths were reported.

How significant is the damage? The storm damaged more than 130 homes, leaving some 22 of them uninhabitable. A tornado also hit at least 100 structures in nearby Woodridge and hospitalized three people, according to the village’s fire chief. The National Weather Service on Monday began surveying the damage and said a single twister likely caused the damage in both towns, as well as a third. Iowa also experienced a tornado overnight, and Missouri suffered a thunderstorm with strong winds.
