Storm kills 13 in Alabama

Ten people, including nine children, died in a 15-vehicle crash on Saturday south of Montgomery, Ala. A van belonging to a youth ranch for abused and neglected girls was involved in the crash on rain-soaked Interstate 65. The group was returning from a week at the beach in Gulf Shores, Ala. Tropical Storm Claudette swept across the Southeast over the weekend with high winds, tornadoes, and flash flooding, which caused three other deaths.

Where is Claudette now? The storm pushed into Georgia and South Carolina on Sunday. Meteorologists downgraded it to a tropical depression, but they expect it to strengthen on its trek toward the Atlantic.
