Three hostages from Haiti missionary group released

Christian Aid Ministries reported that three people kidnapped by the 400 Mawozo gang in Haiti were set free late Sunday night. They did not reveal any identifying information or details about the release but say they are “safe and seem to be in good spirits.” The Ohio-based organization plans to spend the next three days praying and fasting for the remaining 12 hostages.

What happened in Haiti? On Oct. 16, a violent Haitian gang kidnapped 17 missionaries—16 Americans and one Canadian—and their Haitian driver in Port-au-Prince during the group’s visit to an orphanage. The gang leader demanded a $1 million ransom for each of the hostages, which included 12 adults and five children. The gang released two captives on Nov. 21. The White House announced in October that the FBI was working in Haiti to free the missionaries.
