State Department issues “worldwide caution” for Americans abroad

The U.S. State Department on Thursday urged Americans living in other countries and overseas to be more cautious, warning that the possibility of terror attacks or general violence against Americans has grown. The department specified that Americans should stay alert in locations frequented by tourists.

Why did the State Department issue this warning? The report comes during the ongoing war between Israel and the Gaza-based terrorist organization Hamas. The United States has already authorized the departure of the families of government personnel and non-emergency personnel from Israel and nearby Lebanon. Last week, a former Hamas leader called fellow Muslims worldwide to partake in a global “Day of Jihad.”
