Small business group sues over student loan plan
The Job Creators Network Foundation (JCNF) sued the Biden administration over its student loan debt relief plan Monday. It’s the latest of a handful of groups—from attorneys to states to law firms—to challenge the plan in court. The foundation’s suit argues that the Biden administration violated federal procedures by not seeking public input on the program. Elaine Parker, president of JCNF, said Biden’s program also does nothing to address the high cost of college—which she argues is the root cause of student loan debt.
What is JCNF? It is a legal advocacy group for small businesses. The foundation has previously tried to use the courts to block the Biden administration's COVID-19 vaccine mandate on businesses. It also sued Major League Baseball in 2021 for moving the All-Star Game out of Atlanta over objections to changes in Georgia’s voting laws. That lawsuit cited losses to local businesses but was later dropped.
