Shooting rocks California rail yard
A Valley Transportation Authority employee opened fire and killed eight people in San Jose, Calif., early Wednesday. Two law enforcement officials identified the suspect as 57-year-old Sam Cassidy. The light rail facility served Silicon Valley and functioned as a transit control center for train storage and maintenance.
What happened to the shooter? The attacker took his own life as police officers rushed through the door, according to authorities. Cassidy's ex-wife said he had talked about killing people at work more than a decade ago. Besides the eight killed, Cassidy also wounded another man who is in critical condition. Bomb squads searched the complex, according to sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Russell Davis. Authorities have not offered a motive.
