Shots fired at Seattle food festival kill three, injure four
Two people exchanged gunfire at the festival near the Space Needle around 6 p.m. Sunday, killing a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man, and a 56-year-old woman, police said. A toddler was among the four other people wounded, according to the Seattle Police Department. The shots were fired at a food festival called Bite of Seattle.
Two of the victims died at the scene, while a third succumbed to wounds at a nearby hospital. It was unclear if any of the deceased were involved in the incident or known to the shooters. As of early Monday morning, those wounded were all in stable condition at local hospitals.
What do we know about the shooters? Officers quickly arrested one man, who was taken to police headquarters for questioning. Police didn’t believe the public were in further danger, but were pursuing leads to find others involved in the shooting, they said.
Police said Sunday night that the suspect in custody was a young person, and that the source of the gunfire appeared to be two people shooting at each other. Officers recovered two weapons from the crime scene.
