Shooters open fire on police during Dallas protest
At least three Dallas police officers were killed and seven others wounded in an apparent sniper attack during a protest downtown Thursday evening, police chief David O. Brown said. The suspects remained at large in the hours after the attack. The officers were shot during a protest of two recent shootings by police that killed African-American men in Baton Rouge, La., and St. Paul, Minn. The shots rang out around 8:45 p.m. and caused a chaotic scene as the crowd scattered. Police issued a photo of a man, whom Brown described as a “person of interest,” wearing a camouflage shirt and carrying a rifle. Officers also believe the suspects might have threatened to plant a bomb in downtown Dallas, Brown said.
