Christian music duo Shane Barnard and Shane Everett, known by their group name Shane & Shane, collaborated with the Southern Baptist Convention to mount SBC Worship, a resource platform to cultivate worship ministries in SBC churches. The pair announced the partnership between their preexisting worship resource platform, Worship Initiative, and the Southern Baptist Convention during the SBC’s Pastors’ Conference in early June. The platform includes free music resources, events, and helpful articles, tailored for both worship leaders and team members. The platform’s subscription tier also includes virtual training programs and music lessons. Thousands of churches have signed up in the last month, Worship Initiative leader Robbie Seay told Baptist Press. He described the resource library as a unique collaboration of worship leaders that came from years of planning.
Is the platform only open to SBC members? SBC membership is not required to open an SBC Worship account and use its resources. However, the platform is overseen by an advisory council with the purpose of reflecting SBC perspectives, with advertised events and community connection opportunities anchored in SBC entities.
Both Barnard and Everett dedicated their lives to encouraging and equipping worship leaders with resources, according to the duo’s website. The pair met while attending Texas A&M University and began creating music together in the early 2000s, and have since released dozens of albums. Several of the group’s most successful albums are Psalms from the Bible set to music.
