Senate releases transcripts of Trump Jr. interview

Donald Trump Jr. told a congressional panel last year he couldn’t remember whether he had discussed the Russia investigation with his father, according to transcripts released Wednesday of his interview with the Senate Judiciary Committee. He also said he didn’t think there was anything wrong with meeting a Russian lawyer before the 2016 presidential election. The committee released more than 1,800 pages of transcripts of interviews with President Donald Trump’s son and others who attended a June 9, 2016, meeting at Trump Tower in New York. The White House initially said the meeting concerned a Russian adoption program, but Trump Jr. later released emails showing he was promised incriminating information about Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at the meeting. The emails also show he agreed to the meeting despite it being described as part of a Russian government effort to aid his father’s campaign. The Senate Judiciary Committee’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election is ongoing.
