Self-help author challenges potential Biden 2024 nomination

Marianne Williamson on Saturday kicked off her campaign to become the next U.S. president with an event in Washington. Her announcement makes her the first Democrat to formally challenge President Joe Biden, who is expected to officially announce his reelection campaign in the next few weeks.

What’s her platform? Williamson, 70, unsuccessfully ran for office in 2020. Back then, she emphasized the spiritual nature of the election while discussing plans to create a U.S. Department of Peace. Williamson has advocated sending reparations to black Americans to pay a “debt” from historical slavery. On Saturday, Williamson said she’s against a free market “mindset” and the current political system.
