Scots pay respects to Queen Elizabeth II

The motorcade carrying the body of Queen Elizabeth II traveled Monday through the streets of Edinburgh in Scotland. Her family members followed behind on foot. Once inside the castle, the Crown of Scotland was placed on top of the casket. The coffin was scheduled to remain in the cathedral until Tuesday so that residents could visit to pay their respects to their queen of 70 years.

When is her funeral? The queen’s official memorial service is scheduled to take place next Monday at Westminster Abbey in London. Her coffin will lie in state for four days in Westminster Hall later this week for public viewing. Troops will maintain an around-the-clock vigil. On Sunday, the night before the funeral, the government announced that the nation will observe a minute of silence at 8 p.m.
