Sacramento officials identify shooting victims

Johntaya Alexander, 21, an aspiring social worker, was among the six people killed in the early Sunday shooting in California’s capital. At least two gunmen opened fire in a crowd around 2 a.m. as bar patrons filled the streets. The Sacramento County coroner identified the other deceased victims as two women and three men — Melinda Davis, 57; Yamile Martinez-Andrade, 21; Sergio Harris, 38; Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, 32; and De’vazia Turner, 29. The shooting also injured 12 people, including four in critical condition.

Any word on the suspects? Police detained 26-year-old Dandrae Martin as a “related suspect” on assault charges and possessing a loaded gun as a convict. Martin will appear in Sacramento County Superior Court on Tuesday. District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert said the investigation is ongoing and she anticipates more arrests.
