Ukraine killed general by exploding scooter, Russia says

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev on Tuesday said Ukraine was behind what he called a terrorist attack on two Kremlin officials, state media reported. The Tuesday attack killed Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, the head of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops, the Russian Investigative Committee said. The attack also killed Kirillov’s assistant, the committee said.

How was a senior Russian general killed in Moscow? An explosive device planted in a scooter near the entrance to a residential building on Moscow’s Ryazansky Avenue exploded on Tuesday. Authorities were on the scene and investigators were working to determine the circumstances of the crime, the investigative committee said. Ukrainian officials claimed responsibility for the attack, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday.
