Republicans win narrow House majority

Republicans won the 218th seat in the House of Representatives late Wednesday, according to The Associated Press. The announcement comes more than a week after Election Day. It gives Republicans the leverage to hamper President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party’s agenda.

What does this mean? Republicans will take control of key committees, which could give them the ability to launch investigations of Biden, his family, and his administration—especially regarding the overseas business dealings of the president’s son, Hunter Biden. It will also provide Republicans with a check on Democrat legislation. It will remain difficult for Republican-crafted legislation emerging from the House to find much success in the Democrat-controlled Senate.
