Republican proposes bill to protect female House members in restrooms
Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., on Monday introduced legislation keeping men out of designated women-only spaces members of the U.S. House of Representatives use. Mace argued that allowing men into bathrooms designated for women jeopardizes both the safety and dignity of the women using those spaces.
Why is she introducing this now? Delaware elected the first so-called transgender member of the U.S. House of Representatives roughly two weeks ago. Rep. Sarah McBride, D-Del., falsely claims to be a woman and criticized Mace’s proposed legislation. He alleged that Americans all across the country go to work and share spaces with people they disagree with. He added that he hoped federal lawmakers could do the same.
