Reports of shots fired outside CIA headquarters prompts SWAT barricade

Local police closed down roads outside the CIA headquarters in Virginia and formed a barricade with assistance from federal authorities, according to a late morning post by Fairfax County Police. A Washington D.C. social media crime news account reported that a man was firing gunshots into the air near the headquarters. Local and national news outlets also reported shots fired near the building. WORLD reached out to the CIA to confirm the reports, but as of Wednesday afternoon, had not received an immediate response. Livestreamed footage showed a large police presence inside the blocked-off area, including SWAT members and a bomb squad.

This story is still developing and updates will be added when available.
