Found remains may be fugitive sought for daughters’ deaths

Law enforcement search teams this week found human remains believed to be those of murder suspect Travis Decker, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office said on Thursday evening. The remains were discovered in a remote wooded area south of Leavenworth, Wash., the sheriff’s office said.

A manhunt for Decker began on May 30, after the mother of his three young daughters reported them missing. Authorities found the bodies of 5-year-old Olivia, 8-year-old Evelyn, and 9-year-old Paityn in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest several days later.

The remains discovered this week were not positively identified as of Thursday night, but preliminary evidence suggested they belonged to Decker, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities planned to conduct a DNA analysis.
