Planned Parenthood is no longer operating out of Louisiana, according to a Tuesday statement from Gov. Jeff Landry. The abortion provider formally closed facilities in Baton Rouge and New Orleans on Tuesday after more than 40 years of operation. This is a win for both babies and mothers, Landry wrote.
The abortion giant also permanently closed its Houston facility on Tuesday, formerly known as the largest abortion facility in the Western Hemisphere, according to Texas Right to Life. This closure made history and marks a huge win for unborn babies, Students for Life President Kristan Hawkins wrote Tuesday.
What prompted the locations to close? Continuous political attacks and a hostile judiciary forced the abortion giant to close its doors in Louisiana, Planned Parenthood President and CEO Melaney Linton alleged when announcing the closures in early August. WORLD reached out to Planned Parenthood for more details about the closures and did not receive an immediate reply.
Nearly two-thirds of Planned Parenthood’s facilities may close after the Trump administration’s push to defund the abortion provider, according to a July release. Planned Parenthood started closing several locations across the country in recent months, including five locations in northern California, two in Ohio, three in Michigan, and four in Minnesota.
