Primaries proceed across the country

Many voters sent in mail-in ballots as eight states and the District of Columbia forged ahead with primary contests on Tuesday. Some are concerned that protests over the death of George Floyd and the resulting citywide curfews impeded voters’ access to the polls.

What are some notable results so far? Former Vice President Joe Biden swept the seven presidential primaries, inching closer to the 1,991 delegates needed to clinch the Democratic presidential nomination. In a key down-ballot race, nine-term Republican Rep. Steve King of Iowa lost to state Sen. Randy Feenstra. King is mired in controversy regarding past racist remarks, which caused state and national Republicans to back Feenstra.
