Polls closed Tuesday night in Delaware's primary and a slew of incumbents walked away with the nominations. For the state’s U.S. Senate race, three-term Democratic Sen. Chris Coons secured his renomination, according to the Associated Press, and will face former state Sen. Michael Katz, the Republican nominee.

In Delaware's at-large congressional district, uncontested incumbent Democratic Rep. Sarah McBride secured the renomination and will face Republican nominee Joe Arminio.

Original story:

On Tuesday, Delaware voters are expected to hit the polls to select their nominees for U.S. senator, U.S. representative, and several state-level races.

Three-term Democratic Sen. Chris Coons faces three primary opponents in his bid for reelection to a seat once held by then-Sen. Joe Biden. University of Delaware history professor Jeff Appelhans, naval architect Mary Louve, and former business executive Eric Hansen—the state’s Republican U.S. Senate nominee in 2024—will vie to take his place. After changing parties, Hansen also changed his name to E. (Eric) No-Trump Hansen, which his website claims, “isn’t a gimmick—it’s his complete commitment to positive change.” Out of the four candidates, Coons reportedly raised the most campaign funding at $6.9 million.

The Democratic nominee will face either former state Sen. Michael Katz or U.S. Army Reserves Col. John Shulli in the general election, the two Republicans vying for nomination.

What about Delaware’s House seat? Delaware’s at-large congressional district is up for grabs, and incumbent Rep. Sarah McBride is running unopposed for the Democratic nomination. Scholar Joseph Arminio, Rev. Earl Cooper, and Wilmington, Del., native John Whalen, are competing for the Republican nomination to face McBride in November. McBride reported raising the most funds out of all the candidates at $5 million.
