Perdue recalls 80 tons of chicken for wire contamination

The chicken processor on Friday recalled some frozen breaded tenders and breast meat nuggets over concerns they could be contaminated with metal. The products included in the recall were produced on March 23 and have expiration dates in 2025. Perdue Foods recalled the products after customers reported finding metal wire embedded in the food, Perdue’s senior vice president of food safety and quality Jeff Shaw said in a statement. There have not been any reports of illness or injury associated with the products, the company said.

Have there been any other food recalls lately? A salmonella outbreak sickened nearly 500 people across 31 states and Washington, D.C., earlier this year, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Fresh Start Produce in May recalled cucumbers shipped across the country after some were found to be contaminated with salmonella.
