Pennsylvania Democrat concedes eighth House seat to challenger

Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-Penn., on Wednesday conceded the race in a social media statement. He said he was proud of the campaign he and his staff ran, and thanked the voters for giving him the chance to serve them in Congress. Republican Rob Bresnahan accepted Cartwright’s concession and promised voters he would put northeastern Pennsylvania first and foremost during his time in Congress.

Who is Bresnahan? A businessman and philanthropist, Bresnahan’s website claims he ran for Congress to serve the community that served him in Pennsylvania. He’s promised to help his district create new jobs and build its economy. He’s also advocated for a secure border.
