Pence drops out of White House race

Former Vice President Mike Pence on Saturday formally announced he was no longer a candidate for president of the United States. “It’s become clear to me this is not my time,” Pence told the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas. Pence failed to meet the qualifications to participate in the third Republican presidential debate.

What candidates are still in the race? Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie have qualified for the next debate. U.S. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum have not yet met the requirements for the debate. Former President Donald Trump, the frontrunner among GOP candidates, also qualified for the debate but requested the Republican National Committee cancel it. Trump declined to attend the first two debates.
