Mike Pence subpoenaed in Trump probe

Special Council Jack Smith subpoenaed documents and testimony from former Vice President Mike Pence related to former President Donald Trump and the  2020 election, anonymous sources first told ABC News on Thursday. The subpoena is the result of months of investigations—as well as negotiations with Pence’s legal team—initiated by Smith, numerous news agencies reported. It’s not clear if Pence could invoke executive privilege on matters relating to the former president.

Will they question Pence about classified documents? It is not clear whether Smith will also talk to Pence about classified documents found in his home. On Friday, the FBI searched Pence’s Indiana home, finding at least one additional document with classified markings. Last month, Pence had his attorneys review files at his home, and they found classified documents that were secured and then retrieved by the FBI.
