Pastor-turned–presidential-candidate Ryan Binkley suspends campaign

Texas pastor and businessman Ryan Binkley said in a social media statement on Tuesday that he was offering his “unwavering support for President Trump.” Binkley called the numerous allegations and indictments against former President Donald Trump “corrupt” and said Trump needs all the support he can get.

How much support has Binkley received? In his social media statement, Binkley said that “80,000 plus” donors had supported his campaign. According to WORLD’s 2024 Election Center, Binkley received only 768 votes in the Republican Iowa caucuses, 315 votes in the New Hampshire primary, 540 votes in the Nevada caucuses, and 527 in South Carolina’s primary. He received a total of 2,150 votes across four state contests.

Why was Binkley running in the first place? Binkley described himself on his campaign website as “proudly pro-life.” His platform largely centered on restoring structural integrity to the U.S. economy, as well as the U.S. immigration system and healthcare system.
