Over a dozen Trump nominees face Senate hearings this week

The Senate was scheduled to hold confirmation hearings this week on 13 of President-elect Donald Trump’s appointments, according to its website Monday morning. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., promised last week to push Trump’s team through the confirmation process quickly. Meanwhile, Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., last week accused Republicans of trying to rush through Trump’s cabinet appointments without due diligence on checking their backgrounds.

Which Senate confirmation hearings are scheduled for this week?

• The veterans’ committee will hold a confirmation hearing for secretary of veterans’ affairs nominee Douglas Collins at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

• The armed services committee will hold a confirmation hearing for secretary of defense nominee Pete Hegseth at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

• The energy committee will hold a confirmation hearing for secretary of the interior nominee Doug Burgum at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• The homeland security committee will hold a confirmation hearing for secretary of homeland security nominee Kristi Noem at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

• The judiciary committee will hold a confirmation hearing for attorney general nominee Pamela Bondi at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

• The energy committee will hold a confirmation hearing for energy secretary nominee Chris Wright at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

• The foreign relations committee will hold a confirmation hearing for secretary of state nominee Marco Rubio at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

• The intelligence committee will hold a confirmation hearing for CIA director nominee John Ratcliffe at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

• The commerce committee will hold a confirmation hearing for transportation secretary nominee Sean Duffy at 10 a.m. Wednesday

• The environment committee will hold a confirmation hearing for EPA administrator nominee Lee Zeldin at 10 a.m. Thursday.

• The banking committee will hold a confirmation hearing for secretary of housing and urban development nominee Eric Scott Turner at 10 a.m. Thursday.

• The finance committee will hold a confirmation hearing for treasury secretary nominee Scott Bessent at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
