Search and rescue operations in Central Texas entered a sixth day on Wednesday after floodwaters devastated the region. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday said 161 people were still missing. Over 100 were confirmed to be dead as of Tuesday. Searchers wouldn’t leave the area until every missing person was found, the governor said.
Ten campers and counselors from Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian summer camp, were among the missing as of Tuesday, according to the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office. Twenty-seven were confirmed dead, according to the camp.
What else happened during recovery operations? The hard-hit city of Kerrville, Texas on Tuesday issued a warning for private drones to stay grounded after one collided with an emergency helicopter. The helicopter landed safely but was taken out of service, the city said. Meanwhile, several donation centers in Kerrville paused donations on Tuesday after receiving everything they needed.
