Dozen charged with running Nike warehouse theft ring
A group of 12 people face federal charges over a theft conspiracy targeting Nike products, U.S. Attorney D. Michael Dunavant said Tuesday. Prosecutors alleged that the individuals, located in five different states, worked together from 2021 to 2024 to steal at least $2 million in Nike products from a company warehouse in Memphis, Tenn.
The FBI’s Cargo Theft Task Force spent years investigating the case, according to the attorney’s office. The defendants typically identified which products in the warehouse they wanted to resell, then shipped them to predetermined locations, where co-conspirators retrieved and sold the stolen items. One of the group was a manager at the Nike facility and directed other employees to assist in the scheme, according to the indictment.
What charges do the accused people face? The group is charged with conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property. One person was also charged with interstate transportation of stolen property. They are considered legally innocent until proven guilty in court.
