New Hampshire Republican primary comes in close
Retired Army Brig. Gen. Donald Bolduc on Tuesday won New Hampshire’s Republican primary for the U.S. Senate race. Former President Donald Trump did not formally endorse Bolduc, but the candidate has said he believes Trump won the 2020 election. He beat a more moderate conservative, Chuck Morse, for his chance to run against Democrat incumbent Maggie Hassan in November. A former aide to Trump, Karoline Leavitt, won the GOP House nomination. In Rhode Island’s primary, Gov. Dan McKee narrowly won the Democratic primary against former CVS executive Helena Foulkes for governor. He will run against Republican Ashley Kalus in November.
Who is Karoline Leavitt? The 25-year-old candidate will be one of the youngest on the ballot in November. She worked in the Trump White House as an assistant press secretary. Since his 2020 defeat, she’s been working for U.S. Rep. Elyse Stefanik of New York. She’ll face Democrat incumbent Chris Pappas in November.
