Navy report blasts leadership failures for Iranian incident
A scathing report released by the U.S. Navy today detailed a long list of failures that allowed Iran to capture 10 sailors in January. The report blasted everything from improper maintenance, which allowed one of the two boats to break down, to a lack of mission coordination. The whole situation resulted from “failed leadership,” the report found. The incident embarrassed U.S. officials, especially as it happened the day of President Barack Obama’s last State of the Union address and just as the international community prepared to lift economic sanctions on Iran.
