Rep. Mace in physical altercation on Capitol Hill
Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., Tuesday night said that a man physically accosted her on Capitol Hill grounds and that police arrested him. With a new brace on her wrist and some ice on her arm she would heal just fine, she added in a separate statement. WORLD reached out to the U.S. Capitol Police for comment but did not immediately receive a response. The agency told CNN that it arrested a suspect, charging the person with assaulting a government official.
Who was the attacker? Mace described the attacker as a man who supported so-called transgender rights. She blamed the attack on her efforts to keep men who identify as women from using women’s bathrooms on Capitol Hill and a similar bill for all facilities on federal land. Women deserve to be safe, she said.
