Michael Brown deactivates social media amid sexual misconduct allegations
The Messianic Jewish apologist announced his decision to shut down his X account days after his ministry launched an investigation into past claims of sexual misconduct, according to Brown’s final post on Saturday. Board members of Brown’s North Carolina-based ministry, The Line of Fire, promised to release the findings of third-party investigators they recently engaged, according to initial reporting by The Roys Report. Brown said the investigation barred him from commenting on his situation which is what moved him to pull the plug on his social media account.
What are the allegations? A woman claimed that Brown inappropriately touched her while she worked as a secretary at a ministry around the early 2000s, The Roys Report broke last week. She told the outlet that Brown asked that she call him “dad” and encouraged her to hold his hand and sit on his lap. The woman, who was not publicly identified, alleged that Brown’s behavior progressed into kissing her and slapping her behind, The Roys Report said. Several coworkers also reported witnessing the pair holding hands and saw the woman sitting on Brown's lap, the report added.
How has Brown responded? Brown released a statement on the report’s release, describing his reaction as one of shock and horror. Brown said he and his wife considered the woman in question as family, which led him to treat her more intimately than he should have. His actions towards her were foolish and irresponsible but were completely nonsexual, he insisted. Before she left the ministry and relocated, the woman informed him that his behavior made her uncomfortable, Brown said. Brown said the pair met to discuss the situation and reconciled, adding that the woman stayed in contact with his family at least until 2015. Brown ended the statement by asking for forgiveness and insisting that the woman’s well-being is his family’s priority.
