Memo reportedly calls for removal of Trump name from Kennedy Center

The Kennedy Center’s general counsel on Thursday reportedly circulated a memo calling for employees to remove President Donald Trump’s name from the center’s building, branding, and email signatures. The purported memo, which numerous media outlets like CBS News and The New York Times reviewed and wrote about, follows a federal court order late last month that instructed the center to remove the president’s name from the building and its documents.

Did the Kennedy Center confirm these reports? The Kennedy Center told WORLD in a statement that it was following the instructions of the court while also considering legal options for how it could continue to recognize President Trump’s leadership. The White House responded to a similar request for comment by pointing to social media posts by President Trump criticizing the judge’s decision. Alleged copies of the memo did appear on social media on Thursday. The memo reportedly told employees to remove Trump’s name from letterheads, email signatures, signs, website pages, and other documents.
