Megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar arrested

Megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar, founder and senior pastor of World Changers Church in College Park, Ga., was arrested on simple battery charges in Atlanta Friday.

According to an Atlanta television station, Fayette County police booked Dollar at 2 a.m. Friday morning for simple battery after his daughter called 911 claiming her father attacked her during a fight about a party.

A witness told authorities Dollar grabbed his daughter by the neck and choked her, leaving a scratch, according to Fayette County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Brent Rowan.

Several hours later, a judge set Dollar's bond at $5,000, but did not stipulate that Dollar needed to stay away from his daughter.

When asked about the arrest as he was leaving jail, Dollar responded to the television reporter, "Discipline my kid. Love 'em."

Though the arrest may be shocking to his congregants, this is not the first time Dollar has been in the news. His ministry's finances have come under scrutiny after a three-year investigation led by Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa.

World Changers Church has nearly 30,000 members, 10 satellite campuses, and weekly services broadcast across the country.
