Manhattan jury finds Trump liable for sexual abuse

The jury on Tuesday rejected plaintiff E. Jean Carroll’s claim that former President Donald Trump raped her in the mid-1990s but found him liable for sexual abuse and for defaming her after she publicly alleged in 2019 that Trump raped her. The jury awarded Carroll $5 million in damages.

What does Trump have to say about this? Trump says he will appeal. He has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct and claims he has no idea who Carroll is. He did not appear at or testify in the trial, but jurors saw clips of a videotaped deposition he gave late last year. He has decried the prosecution as a disgrace and a continuation of what he says is a political witch hunt against him.
