Manafort gets Senate subpoena reprieve

The Senate Judiciary Committee withdrew its subpoena for former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort late Tuesday after he agreed to turn over documents and continue negotiating details of a future interview. The committee also dropped plans to interview Donald Trump Jr. Senators want to talk to both men about a June 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer who said she had information that could help President Donald Trump’s campaign. Manafort met Tuesday with members of the committee’s staff and agreed to turn over notes he made after the meeting. Committee staff spokesman Jason Maloni said Manafort “answered their questions fully.” Manafort agreed to talk with committee staffers behind close doors again, although those meetings haven’t been scheduled.
