Contractor fired after video shows him harassing dad, daughters in women's restroom
A real estate company fired an independent contractor after a viral video appeared to show the man scolding a father and his two daughters at a gas station. Mississippi-based Overstreet Properties said in a post Wednesday that it was no longer associated with the employee. It noted that the man’s conduct did not reflect the values of Overstreet or meet the standards the company has for those who represent its organization.
The man has gone viral and made national headlines after he harassed the father for accompanying his young daughters to the women’s restroom at a QuikTrip gas station in Alabama. The father, originally from Oklahoma, videoed the encounter and posted it online earlier this week. The video has gained more than 23 million views. To see the video, click here.
Why did the dad take his daughters into the women’s restroom? The father said he checked that the women’s restroom was empty before accompanying his daughters into it. He said in an interview with Fox News that he didn’t feel like the men’s restroom was a good place to take two little girls.
While the dad and daughters were in the bathroom, the other man came in and loudly demanded that the trio leave, according to the video. One of the daughters started to cry while a QuikTrip employee attempted to intervene. The man later called the police on the dad. In a separate video, the father said that after the police arrived on the scene, they said no crime had occurred.
