Kidnapped California family found dead

“Our worst fears have been confirmed,” Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke said Wednesday night as he announced the deaths of four family members, including an 8-month-old girl. A farm worker found their bodies in a remote area that afternoon. Jasleen Kaur, 27, and Jasdeep Singh, 36, were abducted and killed along with their daughter, Aroohi Dheri, and her uncle Amandeep Singh, 39.

Who did this? Police arrested Jesus Manuel Salgado, 48, in connection with the family’s abduction Monday. They said he tried to commit suicide and is receiving medical care. The Fresno Bee reported that he has past convictions of witness intimidation and robbery. Police have not commented on a motive for the killing.
