Justice Department officials called to testify about Hunter Biden

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan on Monday asked for testimony and documents related to the Justice Department’s investigation of President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden. The Committee seeks to interview Justice Department special counsel David Weiss on Oct. 11. Jordan also is seeking documents pertaining to the allegation by two Internal Revenue Service whistleblowers that federal officials mishandled an investigation into the younger Biden. The Justice Department has denied the whistleblowers’ claims. Hunter Biden has sued the IRS for not protecting his private information when the whistleblowers publicly discussed that information.

Is this part of the impeachment inquiry into President Biden? House Speaker Kevin McCarthy earlier this month opened an impeachment inquiry into the president over allegedly improper connections to his son’s business dealings. The House Oversight and Accountability Committee is scheduled to hold its first hearing on that inquiry next week.
